Why are the basics so important?

The basics are the magic key to excellence, it may seem to be one of the slightly less glamorous sides of training but when it all starts to take shape it is almost like a super power, a dog walking happily at their owners heel is like watching two professional dancers working as one. With consistency, patience and almost certainly a sense of humour it is achievable.

At Sitting Dog we will give you the tools to be able to guide you and your dog through the basics or foundations as we prefer to call them, from engagement between handler and dog, sit stay, heel work, manners, boundaries, right through to reliable recall in small manageable chunks.

This will all play a massive part in moving on to gun-dog, pet gun-dog, agility, scent work, mantrailing with your dog should you wish to do so.

We aim not to put pressure on you or your dog, this will help build a calm confidence in both dog and handler creating a stronger bond.

We can offer ongoing support as often or as little as you like.
